Native American Squash Blossom Necklaces
Squash blossom necklaces were originally created by Native American tribes such as the Navajo and Zuni, from materials such as silver and turquoise. The distinctive "squash blossom" bead design is said to have been inspired by either the pomegranate, a symbol of fertility and abundance, or the flowery part of a squash plant, a crop relied on by Natives Americans of the Southwest. The center piece of the necklace, the Naja, has been noted as either a symbol of protection, or representative of a womb. Cisco’s collection of Squash blossom jewelry features Navajo and Zuni necklaces inset with beautiful turquoise, coral and pearl stones.
