Known as the "Winder Musket this rifle was catalogued by Winchester as the "Model 87" but is really a Winchester Single Shot Model 1885. Manufactured in 1918 in .22 Long R caliber(less than 2% of the total production,) This single-shot rifle was the only variation of the Winder musket specifically manufactured for the U.S. Military. Stamped behind the hammer are the letters "U S" and a flaming ordnance bomb. Many martially marked Model 87s ended up in National Guard units, College and High-school ROTC units, Railroads, and U.S. Coast Guard stations. All third Models feature a 28" barrel, coil spring action and Lyman No 53 receiver peep site. Serial #125425. Marked "1" on butt stock. FFL Required.
