US Indian Wars M1890 Indian Scout dress helmet. Model 1890 Indian Scout Dress Helmet with red and white horse hair plume and chest cords. Pressed black fur felt body with a polished black leather band around the lower edge of the helmet. Brass Indian Scout crossed arrow side buttons, plume holder, cavalry eagle front plate with German silver crossed arrows. Tan leather sweatband with is complete and intact. Sweatband is marked "W.H. HORSTMANN, CO. / Contract March 4th, 1899.". All hardware is firmly secured to the body of the helmet. Some scuffs on leather trim. Helmet is supple with a few stains on the sweatband. Cord and plume with some fading but well preserved overall. Very good condition.
