This model totem lamp was carved by Tsimshian carver Paul Mather (1828-1942) of New Metlakatla, Alaska. It depicts the Chief Kian pole of Ketchikan, a design that Mather frequently used in his totem poles. The pole has a US Indian Arts and Crafts Board stamp, which means that it was carved after 1937, but before 1942. Lamp has a new rawhide shade added. Stamped "hand made US Indian Arts & Crafts."
