Tsimshian totem by Eli Tait (1872-1949). Eli was a well known Native carver who was among the original Tsimshian party that moved from British Columbia to Anette Island, Alaska, in 1887. Tait was a prolific and well-known carver who seems to have originated the "luck” style model poles that featured a bald eagle, salmon, and bear. His works are in many private collections, galleries and museums around the world. It is hard to find works by him that are signed. 6 1/2"H
