he Sage of Jemez by Richard Ernesti (1856-1906). 16" x 20". Period frame 20" x 24". Oil on canvas. Ernesti received art training in Chemnitz, Germany and at the Chicago Academy of Design. He taught at Penn State College, Drake Universiy in Iowa, and Colorado State Teacher's College. He specialized in landscapes of the Colorado Rockies and Indian Studies such as "Comanche Dancer" at the Hubbell Trading Post Museum, which has a number of paintings on display. Also at the Smithsonian.
