Pre-Columbian, Northern Colombia, Tairona culture, ca. 800 to 1500 CE. A wonderful necklace of wearable form constructed with dozens of hand-carved carnelian beads. Dozens of additional greenstone beads line the upper portion of the necklace while carnelian discs, seed beads, tubes, and desirable bullet beads comprise the central section. Suspended in the center is a petite 58% gold frog pendant incised with striations to emulate the body parts of a frog. Ex. private Bergenfield, New Jersey, USA collection, acquired via descent, originally imported into the US from Colombia in 1977.
