(1925-2006 ) Oil on canvas; 26" x 38" framed 23 1/4" x 35 1/2". Signed bottom left. Depicting a stagecoach pursued by a war band. Ron Crooks is a painter of nostalgic western genre subjects. He was born and raised in Glendale, California and in 1972 moved to French Gulch, California. He enrolled in the OtisArt Institute in March 1944, and "completed only three weeks at Otis, before being drafted into the Army. Two and a half years later he returned home and enrolled again at Otis. After one year, he moved to the School of Allied Arts and left school in 1950 to work in the art department of an aircraft company. In 1968, after fifteen years in advertising art, he took the big step to fine art, painting all subjects, but soon discovering an identity in Western subjects.
