Squamish (Coast Salish) eagle and salmon model totem by Stan Joseph. This model pole depicts an eagle over a leaping salmon by Squamish master carver, Stan Joseph Sr. (Squamish name: Sequilem, born 1950). The pole is carved in yellow cedar and is neatly painted in red and black. Joseph began carving at the age of 12, and has worked with such greats as Bill Reid, Tony Hunt, and Bobby Cole. Joseph’s full-sized poles can be found around the world, and he continues to teach the art and dancing of his people to the next generation from his home in North Vancouver, BC. The pole is signed on the back: “Squamish Nation, BC, by Sequilem, Stan Joseph. Eagle, Salmon.” 8" x 7"
