Special Texas Ranger badge. 1948 Cinco Peso silver coin Butch Thompson's badge. Butch spent nearly 30 years working for the King Ranch and this badge was worn by him while he served as a Special Ranger & Brand Inspector. Ex. Texas Ranger Jay Banks Applewhite-Clark Collection. After serving as a Constable in Jack County since 1936, Jay fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a Texas Ranger in 1947 where he transferred to Dallas and spent the rest of his career eventually progressing to Field Ranger, then Sergeant and finally to Captain of Company B.
