Sioux fully beaded hide moccasins. Thread and sinew sewn. Beaded with colors of dark blue, red white heart, white, pea green, and greasy yellow. Remnants of yellow pigment, split tongues with tin cones filled with horsehair.
Fully beaded moccasins were made as special gifts for elders, respected individuals, or during rites of passages for events such as births, marriages, or graduations. Because of the skill and time required, they are collected as art pieces or displayed in museums to preserve cultural history.
