Navajo large turquoise slab bracelet. The turquoise is from the Kingman Mine in Arizona. This bracelet has an exceptionally beautiful sky blue stone (over 2") with twisted rope and bead border. Nice patina! This bracelet came from Arizona (Kingman Mine), we purchased in 2010. It was made by a Navajo silversmith during the period before they marked their work (most probably around 1960-70s). It not enhanced, it is a 100% untreated natural turquoise stone. It was first mined by the Native Americans many years before Europeans came to America. Probably at least 1,000 years ago. Much later a number of individuals and companies owned and used the mine. The Kingman Mine is located in an area called Mineral Park in Arizona. It was discovered by James Haas in the late 1800’s. In the late 1880’s to the early 1900’s, Mineral Park was mined by the Aztec Turquoise Co., the Los Angeles Gem Co., Arizona Turquoise Co., Southwest Turquoise Co. and Mineral Park Turquoise Co.…turquoise(website hidden) During the 1950’s to 1970’s, large productions from the Kingman Mine made this turquoise world famous.
