Dimensions

Plains rawhide whirling spin drum circa 1900-1910. The drum features a stretched rawhide, sinew, and wooden construction to build a drum using momentum and the beads of wood to beat the drum. Historically, hand drums have been an essential part of spiritual ceremonies for vision, power celebrations and healing. These unusual drums are played by holding the stick between your hands and whirling the drum back and forth. The drums have small wood pieces connected to strings attached to the sides of the drum. As you whirl, the wood pieces strike the rawhide head, creating a resonant, percussive sound. 11 5/8" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/4"
