Plains Paleo Hell Gap Point. Plains Paleo Hell Gap Point, Hitchcock Co. Nebraska. This 2 5/8"L, edge translucent tan chalcedony Paleo-Indian dart point, typed as Hell Gap dating circa 10,300 - 9500 BP, was found near Driftwood Creek, a tributary of the Republican River in Hitchcock County, Nebraska. Overall good condition with a few small usage nicks along its forward edges and a small ding on one basal corner. With an excellent patina on the surface that was obviously exposed to the sun, this point comes in a 4" x 5" glass fronted collector frame along with authenticity and a map of Nebraska highlighting the general area in which it was found. Ex. Calvin Howard Collection. Ex. Hank Johnson Collection.
Hank Johnson was a geologist, and passionate collector of historical and ancient artifacts. Starting with relics and bottles from ghost towns, he later focused on Anasazi pottery and Pre-Columbian.
