An elegant four-figure model pole created by a Tlingit artist sometime around 1900. This pole features an anthropomorphic bear head over a frog, raven, and bear. The pole is carved in yellow cedar that has been painted black, perhaps in an attempt to mimic the appearance of argillite, which may have been more appealing to tourists at the time. This pole is very well-carved and mounted on a thin, hand-made base. 10" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"
