Northern Plains dew claw bandolier. Harness leather strap strung with dozens of deer hoof claws and glass trade beads. Deer toes are natural rattles, the hollow hooves make a pleasant jangling sound, and are often used for dancing costumes, hand rattles, and other adornments. This leather strap was worn by a dancer like a bandolier or sash, draped over the shoulder and spanning across the chest, resting at the dancer's hip. Ex. Private Cripple Creek Collection
