19th Century New Mexico crucifix. Polychrome, wood bulto, representing the Crucificaeo. Painted in red, green, black and yellow pigments with a corpus of highly stylized forms suspended from a simple cross surmounted by a scroll reading "INRI" wearing a gessoed loin cloth covering with the crown, the head is cast in a downcast expression. Possibly the work of Jose Benito Ortega or one of his followers.
