Miniature horsehair Papago plaques. Exceptionally fine weave. Tohono O'odham; Arizona. Attributed to accompanying card: Adeline Manuel depicting a rattlesnake motif, set in a padded display box. 3"D and 2"D. Split stitch baskets are made of beargrass and sewn with yucca in such a manner that the coil is exposed to form part of the pattern. Made on the Papago Reservation in Southern Arizona, bounded on the east by historic San Xavier Mission on the west by organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.
