The Lakota style war headdress. Sihasapa Lakota is a band of the Sioux Nation known as the Blackfoot Sioux. Their name comes from wearing moccasins that had black soles from walking in burn prairie grass. This war headdress has a typical flared appearnce of mist Lakota war bonnets. The brow band shows that the owner is a member of three different lodges with great wisdom derived from associated in vision quests with the "Underwater Dragon." The two eyes on the brow band indicate this superior vision connected to the ancient legends of the Lakota Serpent beings who receeded to living under water in lakes and rivers. These "Dragons" had benevolent and dangerous knowledge imparted only to the most deserving wise warriors. The dark reddish hair on the feather tips shows that the owner had deep connnections to both healing and battle knowledge. The shredded hawk feathers on the top backside of the crown meant that the owner was able to accomplish desires quickly and silently. The ermine fringe completely covering the crown represents stealth and hidden hunting skills to provide for family and the tribe. 20"H Top of feathers; 18" side drops.
