Dimensions

European double barrel shotgun with 29 5/8" damascus barrels and walnut stocks. The right side lock plate is engraved with a hunt scene of a dog pointing a pheasant with the words "Kalina." The left side lock plate is engraved with a fox hunting a game bird and the words " In Wien." The tang features floral engraving with a dove. The receiver also features floral engraving. The trigger guard is engraved and features a horn grip.
The "watertable" of the shotgun breech area is engraved K. Kalina In Wein. The walnut stocks are engraved with floral designs and checkered at the grip and forestock.

The condition of the shotgun is good overall with sharp visible engraving on furniture and stocks. The right side hammer does not stay cocked indicating internal wear. The bore is good overall but doe shows signs of minor pitting in areas.

The shotgun features an "under lever" system to break open the breech, which swings out to the right, unlocking the breech and allowing the barrel assembly to tip up for reloading. The barrel is held in place by a wedge, which can be relatively easily removed to possibly put the shotgun into a case.

Karl kalina was a Viennese gunsmith/retailer active in the late 1880's. He is documented as marking/retailing quality sporting arms, including Belgian-made guns that were finished or sold under his name in Vienna.
