Dimensions

Hupa/Yurok basketry bowl. The solid triangular designs are known as "flint" whereas the inner zigzag elements are referred to as "snakes." Two strand plain twining with three strand twining at base. Warps: hazel shoots, Corylus rostrata californica. Decoration by half-twist overlay of bear grass, Xerophyllum tenax; (light); msidenhair fern, Adiantum pedatum, (dark). Ex. Clay P Bedford.
