Hudson Bay brass trade axe with Native carved and embellished shaft. Originated from the old Post Creek Hudson Bay store, Upland Island, Fort Connah. Native made bird effigy shaft. Old Post Creek Hudson Bay store located at Fort Connah, now St. Ignatius. Construction begun in 1846 by Angus McDonald of Hudson Bay Co. It was the last Hudson Bay Co. Post constructed in US territory. Named for Connen River in Scotland, closed in 1871. Blade 4", overall 22"
