Pair of folk art wooden and painted swans. One swimming and one sleeping. Signed Guy Taplin, Wivenhoe Essex. Paint flaking but just the right look. Signed by Guy Taplin (bird sculptor to the stars). Guy Taplin makes wooden birds and ducks "you get a bit of wood, he says you chop up anything doesn't look like a duck. It's a piece of cake, really dead easy." His birds are in Tate Britian in the Royal Collection Jacqueline Onassis bought them, Michael Palin and John Snow buy them, so do Guinnesses and Sainsburys. "The birds are beautiful, graceful and lovely to the eye. It makes you want to touch them…"
