Gold Plated Cattle Brand Engraved Antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver, #65555, .45 Colt cal., 7.5" barrel, two-piece pearl grips with carved steer head on the right panel, blade front sight, and fixed square notch rear sight. Ornately engraved with approx. 90%-95% coverage in cattle brands and gold plated. Mfg'd 1881. Although unsigned, the engraving and gold treatment is consistent with Weldon Bledsoe engraved guns, including the "2 Lazy 2 P" on the trigger guard.
Bledsoe was a protege and mentored in his engraving by the legendary Cole Agee. Revolver is in near excellent overall condition, retaining approx. 96%-97% gold plated finish, showing light muzzle wear. Grips have aged nicely and have a few minor marks at the bases. Action is crisp and cycles smoothly, with all four clicks. Bore is good, with light to moderate erosion, and well-defined rifling.
