Orvon Grover "Gene Autry's" flying A blacksmith made branding iron. "Gene Autry" was an American actor, musician, singer, composer, rodeo performer and baseball owner who gained fame largely by singing in a crooning style on radio, in films and on television for more than three decades beginning in the early 1930s. This branding iron comes with a letter of provenance (actually two, dated about a year apart) from the original owner to whom it was given by one of Gene Autry's former employees.
