Coast Salish thunderbird totem with transverse killer whale. This unique Coast Salish (perhaps Squamish) model pole features a twist on the iconic Thunderbird Totem Poles of Alert Bay. The model is loyal to the original poles, save for the addition of a transverse killer whale cutting across the center of the pole. The carving is highly sculptural, and the painting is crisp on this pole. Despite being 80 years old, the condition is excellent. The details of this pole are phenomenal and set it apart from other carvings of the period.
