Buermann star marked horsehead spurs. These are the Hercules bronze style spurs with the horsehead in a horseshoe motif on each side. While in the army at age 22, August Buermann began making bits and spurs for civilian and military use. He went on to be one of the largest sellers of bits and spurs of the late 1800s and early 1900s, producing hundreds of patterns. Hallmarked with the Buermann Star. The heel measures 3-1/8 inches, the band measures 2-1/2 inches, and the shank measures 2-3/4 inches. Complete with period carved leathers with floral design.
