The Big "S" Brand. During Ben Snipe's lifetime, nearly 125,000 head of cattle wore this famous mark of the Northwest Cattle King. He was elected to the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, a rare and coveted honor. As one who made the range of heroes, he joins the company of such famous honorees as former President Teddy Roosevelt and Will Rogers. Perhaps the reason Ben Snipe claimed the hearts of most can be found in his own summing up, "Man's accomplishments are limited only by his own self-set goal and his determination to attain it - honorably." This 9" hand forged Saddle iron was acquired by Clarence, an early brand collector, 1956, in Rattlesnake Hills. Snipe's large range was on both sides of the Columbia. Oregon and Washington. A real piece of western history.
