Tower brand cowboy slicker. Buttons marked "AJ Tower Co. Boston." A used piece with provenance. Not many survived. This slicker was purchased from the estate of Oddie Whiteside, Estes Park, Colorado. Oddie, as a young man, opened Silver Lake Stables. At the start of WWII, he enlisted and was sent to Fort Robinson in Crawford, Nebraska as a cavalry man. When the war ended he purchased 50 of the cavalry horses as they were to be destroyed, drove them back to Estes Park and re-opened his stable. At the time of his passing, he had operated Silver Lake Stables for 70 years. His estate was settled in 2018.
