Dimensions

Miniature loon carving of walrus ivory by Inuit carver Larry Mayac. Signed and dated 1995. These carvings were usually small carvings from walrus ivory, representing local animals and Inuit themselves, going about everyday life. Seals, caribou, polar bears, birds, and other animals important to Inuit’s survival were often represented. Al Mayac, Ted, Jr., and their cousins, Larry and Fred Mayac, are full time carvers whose attention to detail - carving each feather and painstakingly painting each one, has landed their art in collections around the world.
