This pair of model poles were carved by Cowichan master carver Danny James, a Coast Salish artist who often produced carvings for Ye Olde Curiosity Shop. The poles depict thunderbirds over bears and are models of the famous Thunderbird Totems of Alert Bay, BC. The Cowichan people are a Coast Salish First Nation who own and occupy the territory in and around the Cowichan Valley, in the southeast portion of Vancouver Island. The underside of the base of the smaller one totem is stamped "Genuine Indian Made." 11"H x 8"W; 13"H x 11"W
