Dimensions

Large size, deep, out curved bowl with a rounded bottom and sides; manufactured by coil and scrape. The light brown paste includes very fine-medium, subround-angular quartz, brown and black lithic grains and occasional bronze colored mica. Exterior is polished with a tool but the scraping marks are clearly visible; interior is polished smooth and coated with a very pale brown, partly crazed slip. Decoration is confined to the interior, is executed in 1mm wide weak-dusky red, and consists of four equal size squares, each rotated to form a diamond. Each design consists of 13-17 concentric squares with poorly defined, overlapping joints; is enclosed by double 3mm framing lines and bisected perpendicular to the rim with double 3mm lines. Interior polishing prior to painting and the narrow lines are not typical, and along with some Hohokam characteristics indicate this vessel may be avariation of the type. Glued, no restoration, and approximate 15cm of wall missing in three places combined. This item is guaranteed to be of the time period and condition as described, has been exported legally and is legal to buy and sell under all international laws relating to cultural patrimony.
