Dimensions

Scarce Remington-Keene Frontier Model bolt-action rifle marked “USID 137” on the left side of the receiver. Manufactured circa 1880 for the U.S. Department of the Interior, these .45-70 rifles were issued through federal Indian agencies, including Indian Police forces in the West.

This example has a 24-inch round barrel, tubular magazine, two sling swivels, original front sight, and original folding military ladder rear sight. The receiver is stamped “P / W.W.K.” with arrow motifs, with matching “HN” inspector marks at the barrel and receiver. A period inspector cartouche remains faintly visible on the stock.

The barrel, receiver, and fore-end hardware appear to have been reblued. The stock remains original and shows period wear, scattered dings, handling marks, and minor hairline cracking. Rifling remains visible and appears in fair to good condition. Mechanically functional but not test fired; inspection by a qualified gunsmith is recommended before use.
Manufactured Circa 1880

PERIOD: Late 19th Century

SIZE: Barrel Length - 24" , Caliber Size - .45-70
