Dimensions

P56 smoothbore Enfield musket with a .656 -.68 caliber 31 1/2" barrel, brass furniture and walnut stocks. The lockplate is marked Tower 1865 with a crown above the initials V.R. This is the smoothbore version with 2 barrel bands, slotted ramrod and fixed rear site designed for native Indian troops following the Indian Mutiny of 1857. This particular example has numerous proof marks on the barrel and lock. The buttstock is stamped Canadian Indian Police with a maple leaf, all inside an oval. There is a brass medallion inset into the stock and held on with a screw. It is stamped N.W. TERR. 77. The left side of the buttstock is also stamped with a 77 and the number 200.

The musket is in good condition overall with period dings, nicks and dents from use. There appears to be one area of repair on the left side of the buttstock where someone used a "filler" to smooth out a ding or dent. It is mechanically fine.
