Berin Sea beaked whale by Brian Kulik (King Island Inupiaq), bottom signed "Berring Beaker." Brian Kulik is a King Island Inupiaq carver known for his technically skilled walrus ivory carvings. This figure depicts an adult male Baird’s Beaked Whale, known for growing large tusks on the sides of their mouths, which Kulik has included in his carving. The whale is carved in walrus ivory with baleen inlaid eyes and is mounted to a fossilized piece of walrus ivory, which is in turn mounted onto a dark blue/green, deeply mineralized piece of mammoth ivory. The carving is signed on the bottom with a description of the beaked whale. There is also a Silver Hand Alaska Native art certified sticker on the bottom. 4" x 2" Overall
