Dimensions

Medium size, deep bowl with a round bottom and straight sides that slightly contract. Coil and scrape construction, thin walls. The reddish brown paste contains abundant fine to medium, well rounded to sub angular, multicolored sand temper. The sand is mostly clear to opaque quartz with some red and black lithic material and lesser amounts of light colored angular fragments. The interior is smoothed, slipped red, and is polished. The exterior is not well smoothed and pock mark remnants from unobliterated coils are quite evident. In places the red slip has fired to a reddish brown, and the polishing is not as well done as the interior. Found near Silver City, New Mexico. Glued, one small rim chip and two small pieces missing from bottom and side. This item is guaranteed to be of the time period and condition as described, has been exported legally and is legal to buy and sell under all international laws relating to cultural patrimony.
