Dimensions

Coast Salish totem pole, circa 1920. This older model pole appears to depict an anthropomorphic Bear with what may be a Flatfish on the front side of the pole. This pole is quite old and carved in red cedar, with a minimalist style of carving and a geometric paint application that gives it a subtly modernist visual appeal. This same minimalism makes a precise tribal attribution difficult, although this pole is most likely Coast Salish and was probably produced near Seattle or the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. The wafer-shaped base is hand carved. 10 1/2"H.

PERIOD: Early 20th Century

ORIGIN: Plateau - Salish, Native American

SIZE: 10 1/2"L
