No's 9 - 12, patented 1860 by A.M. Foote; on drip bowl "manufactured by Wheeler & Wilson, 505 Broadway." Assume Philadelphia or Boston? Locking umbrella stand. We have two of the original four keys. Other two can be opened by removing a screw. Assume used during or after the Civil War in an elite gentleman's club. Some umbrellas were very expensive and other assume looked the same. Cast iron; original paint. 38"H. Still remains functional. A piece we've read about - seen in several movies, but our first. With keys.
