From the 74th US Colored Infantry of 2nd to #2 in the Lt Austin Sanders Co to COD - attractive Civil War locker with period paint in gray and black with pinstripe; borders and starbursts on lid panel, and "A. Sanders" on front interior with two sliding shelves. The 74th Infantry was organized April 4, 1864 from the 2nd NT Corp de Afrique Infantry; attached to the fence of New Orleans, Department of the Gulf to October 1864, 3rd Brigadge, 3rd Division US Colored Troops, Depth of the Gulf to 1864, garrison duty at Ship Island, MIS entire term. Expedition from Port Pike to Fort Pearl, Septebmer 9 - 12, 1864; Expedition from Fort Pike to Bayou Bonforican, January 31st to February 1, 1965 (detachment); expedition from Fort Pike to Bayou St. Louis, March 38 - 30th (detachment); mustered out October 11, 1865 (Cowan's '06).
