Newhouse 1st Model Slick Pan No. 6 Trap 1850-1855 Newhouse Community, N.Y. 1st Model No. 6 Oneida Community bear trap. This bear trap shows excellent construction with an amazing original profile, including original slick pan and shows all the riveted bear traps teeth overlapping the traps jaws and riveted with square rivets. Slick pan trap shows the springs all blacksmith forged from iron with the blacksmiths' marks shown on the springs (they are faded) but 'Oneida' and 'Newhouse' can be made out. The condition of this bear trap shows well preserved condition considering it was found in the wild and shows oxidation to the trap consistent with its age but shows a fully functional trap. The collective weight of this bear trap is 42lb 4oz. Found in the Beartooth Wilderness near Livingston, Mt and has probably been there for over 100 years.
