First Nations, Alaska or Canada, Haida or Tlingit, ca. early 20th century CE. A hand-built salmon hook or gigging hook composed of 2 wooden components bound with twisted fiber. On one end of the tool is a curved tip with a barb used to pierce the salmon from the underside before being lifted out of the water. Came from a private West Jordan, Utah Collection. Ex. Creede, Colorado
