Dimensions

19th century cannon with original carriage. Same size as was used during the opening of the Erie Canal. A cannon staged each mile on the canal started firing when the canal opened; the next one firing as soon as they heard the one before so as to let the town of Buffalo know - only minutes after the canal opened. Often used at Courthouses and Capitols for the saluting of important people or events. This piece was requisitioned during the Civil War and used by Confederate Militia. Note red and gray wheels. Came from a collection in Oklahoma.
