(1864-1934). Oil on canvas; well framed. Well listed artist, good auction record. Not unlike many great artists, Svend was a serious alcoholic. When his troubles got too great, his personal doctor, Mayor, would take him to his rural "get away farm" in western Illinois, where he would dry out. This happened over a period of twelve years. Of that time, he seriously painted for about twenty months. This image is of the doctor’s farm; like an “open window".
