Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle. Extra lightweight standard sporting version in .40-82 cal. Barrel has been cut down to 22” carbine length. This modification was commonly performed by ranchers looking to get the best of both worlds. Shorter length rifle with a better barrel. This rifle was a workhorse. Rifling is visible but worn with visible pitting. Barrel, receiver, and stock show wear and have acquired a dark patina consistent with age. Serial #17081.
