Dark gray soapstone carving of a bull walrus depicted facing straight ahead with emphasis on the great mass of male walrus. This carving is simple, static and expressive. It conveys the cumbersome size, great weight and lack of mobility of a bull walrus, when land bound. Craftsman and community unknown. Inscribed on bottom "186788."
