Oil on canvas by Mary Chenoweth Turener; 15" x 20". On the Jicarilla Apache Reservation established in 1887. Unsigned. The back side of the painting has an original hand written label with a note written by the artist. This label reads: "The Lone Teepee' painted from life in Dulce, New Mexico August 27, 1913." This authentic Native American Indian western oil painting is stretched on canvas and depicts a Western Tribe American Indian, carrying his canoe on his shoulder over to a large teepee. You can also see the Indian's dog to the right.
