Painted bronze sculpture by Estella Loretto. Dated 1990, limited edition 1/35. Weighs over 30 lbs. Beginning at the age of 16, Loretto studied art in the US and abroad, including Belgium, Oaxaca, India and Nepal. In 2002, she was commissioned by the archbishop of Santa Fe to make a statue of Kateri Tekawitha, a 17th century Mohawk woman who was beatified by Pope John Paul, for the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi. Her works are in the collections of the New Mexico State Capitol, the Albuquerque and Heard Museums, as well as many notable private collections. Loretto resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
