Large size, flare rim, shallow bowl with a rounded lip. Paddle and anvil construction; buff colored paste with muscovite mica temper. Abundant pores and free mica are visible on all surfaces. Decoration is confined ot the interior. The design field is offset quartered in an a-a-a-a rhythm; each quarter consists of a key and a scroll. This scroll element may represent a whirlwind and the key element depicted on this vessel is characteristic of the earlier Gila Butte Phase. The pigment is red mineral paint. Characteristics are typical of those found along the Gila River south of Phoenix. Moderate restoration is not easily discernable.
