Brain-tanned deerskin guantlets with faceted beaded floral design. These gauntlets were made by Mary Catherine Louie of the Colville Tribe and traded to Vern Workman in 1927 for five deer hides. Louie was a Colville native born in 1852 near the St. Paul Mission near the Columbia River and lived all her life in the Columbia River, Colville Valley. She was still alive in the year 1965 at age 113. As written by LaPlant "it is possible she was not accurate in her birth year." Ex. LaPlant Collection.
