26th design silk statehood flag with 49 stars. Alaska came into the Union on July 4, 1959 and remained the official flag for one year at which time Hawaii joined the Union. Although official for only one year large quantities of 49 stars were produced to welcome Alaska into the Union. July 4, 1959.
